FAQ's

A very common question and something that is hard to answer. The amount of time is based on what you interpret being able to swim means, the child's confidence,  the consistency of lessons and the child's ability. 

For your first swimming class you'll need to bring the child's swimmers, aqua nappy for children not yet toilet trained, towel and change of clothes. If your child has goggles please bring however its not essential. Students with long hair will need to wear a swimming cap.

It's advisable to arrive 10 minutes prior to your child's lesson time. We ask all customers to check in which involves signing in and having your child's name marked off by office staff prior to proceeding up to the pool deck. 

At starfish you can pay for lessons in blocks of 5, 10,20 or more. It's up to you. You can book lessons at any time and don't need to wait to the beginning of a school term. We hold your place in the class until you let us know otherwise or until you've been away for 3 consecutive lessons without notifying us or being contactable. All lessons go for a duration of 30 minutes and most students book as a minimum, one session per week.

We ask that all customers send us a text or call to let us know that you will be away prior to your lesson start time. If advised we offer a replacement class outside of your child's usual time slot. Replacement classes are a courtesy and honourable provided there is a suitable time available. Replacement classes are only offered to paying customers and can't be taken at the end of a payment block or used to extend the paid period.

We have a maximum number of participants in each class level. It is best to ask our friendly office staff when booking the maximum number of students per class as it varies depending on the class level. Winter students often enjoy smaller class numbers and we do offer private tuition to individuals and family groups.
