Levels of advancement
We offer a range of learn to swim class levels developed specifically to enhance your child's progress with key outcomes in mind. Each class is designed to suit your child's age, confidence and swimming ability. To maximise their learning we keep our learn to swim class numbers set to a maximum number of students with similar abilities so children learn and swim together as well as individually.
Toddler Learn to Swim Class
Children as young as 18 months old can enjoy swimming lessons without the parent in the water. The main focus of this class is to have your toddler swimming to safety unaided. We focus on reaching for the side, falling in and turning and grabbing on as well as climbing out of the water. Some progress to be able to swim doggie paddle unassisted.
Beginner Learn to Swim Class
This class is for children who have little to no swimming experience and are just starting out. Classes are focused on learning how to swim to save themselves, as well as the start of overarm freestyle, floating and vital water safety skills. Classes are for children from 3 years of age.
Intermediate Learn to Swim Class
This class is dependant on your child's swimming ability. Once they can swim to save themselves and can offer basic freestyle technique they progress to intermediate where they learn to breath to the side and swim further through the water.
Advanced Learn to Swim Class
Now that your child has learnt freestyle and can swim at least 5 metres and complete 10 metres without assistance, they move to the advance learn to swim class. Here they strengthen their freestyle and are introduced to backstroke.
